Tamulpur: Due to continuous atrocity of wild elephants, people along the Indo-Bhutan border under Nagrijuli Development Block in the district of Baksa are spending sleepless night year after year.

Herds of wild elephants often come to villages in search of food and involve themselves in conflict with human beings. On Wednesday night, a wild elephant got isolated from the herd and entered Guwabari village and created terror in the village. The wild elephant broke down houses of two families and destroyed many betel nut trees and coconut trees. The elephant attacked one person named Fijo Moshahary and he was seriously injured. He was shifted to the hospital by local people. Another group of people tried to chase away the elephant by burning wood and creating sound but failed. After a long time, just before dawn, the wild elephant left the village towards the hill side.
