Will not appoint abbots in mostery in future: Dalai Lama

Itagar, May 21: Responding to an application of the monks and administration of Tawang Mostery for appointment of a new abbot, the office of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has circulated a letter on May 18 last citing that the revered Rinpoche is among the top Buddhist scholars and was persolly appointed as the abbot of Gaden mgyal Lhatse by him.
Further, the seemingly upset Tibetan spiritual leader said, “I have selected many abbots of Tawang mostery and the present abbot, Guru Rinpoche studied at the institute of Buddhist dialectics, Dharamshala and thereon served at my office.”
“I have selected and desigted a highly qualified monk as the abbot of Gaden mgyal Lhatse and yet if people are unsatisfied with his activities, I shall no longer appoint the abbot of Tawang mostery and the appointment shall be undertaken by Sera Je mostery instead,” he added.
It is to be mentioned here that Guru Tulku Rinpoche, the abbot of Tawang mostery had rendered his resigtion to the office of the Dalai Lama for consideration following the recent unfortute turn of events in Tawang.
Guru Tulku Rinpoche, in his resigtion had stated that he was deeply perturbed and in a sorrowful state of mind because of the recent disturbance in Tawang which went against the philosophy of Buddhism.
