GOLAGHAT, April 25: The activists of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) Golaghat district committee staged protest near the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday demanding withdrawal of the citizenship  amendment bill, 2016.

Activists of KMSS shouted various slogans against the Narendra Modi-led BJP government as well as the Sarbananda Sonowal-led State Government for taking the anti-Assam decision of granting citizenship to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

KMSS leader Mulan Laskar said, “The BJP government has taken an anti-Assam policy to paralyze the social system of Assam. Sarbananda Sonowal had earlier assured safety and security of the indigenous people of Assam. But after coming to power, the Sarbananda Sonowal government has taken many anti-Assam policies.”

He also said that the BJP government considered Assam as a dumping ground and hence it desired to settle illegal migrants in Assam by amending the Citizenship Bill, 2016. The KMSS warned the BJP government to keep away for settling illegal migrants in Assam. The KMSS will carry out protests until the government withdraws the decision of amending the citizenship bill, 2016.
