WJYC express concern over power shortage

SHILLONG, Sept 8: The War Jaintia Youth Council (WJYC) under the Amalrem sub division has appealed Chief Secretary, BPO Warjri to immediately take steps towards development in the area especially in field of education and health care while also expressing their grievances due to the lack of power supply for the past many months even as the Myntdu Leshka Hydro Electric Power (MLHEP) is located in the area.

“We have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary in order to appeal to the concern department to bring about development in the area by opening a Community Health Centre (CHC) to look after the health care of the people and to construct an educatiol institution in order to cater to the needs of the people in the Amlarem,” Danial Khongsit, president of WJYC told media person here today.

He informed that in Amlarem there is only a private health care clinic and this poses a great problem for the under privileged family.

Meanwhile on the lack of power supply in the areas Khongsit said, “We feel like it’s a disadvantage because even if the Myntdu Leshka Hydro Electric Power is located at our own backyard the people in the area are still facing a shortage of power supply.”

He said that the chief secretary has however suggested them to approach the deputy commissioner of the district on the matter.
