Woman alleges husband of giving her Triple Talaq over phone

Guwahati: In a rather weird instance of giving divorce by a man to his wife, an incident has come into notice wherein a man in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah has given divorce to his man over the phone. What is more interesting to know is that the man has uttered the triple talaq words to divorce his wife over the phone. In fact, even weird is the reason for which the woman is being divorced is by the man. As alleged by the woman, she could not keep her promise of reaching home on time and this is what irked her husband.

The triple talaq tradition, despite being termed as a penal offence passed in the Lok Sabha, is still in action and this time the incident has been able to catch so much attention just because the reason and the means used for the divorce, both are unusual and one-of-a-kind.

The woman said, “I went to my mother’s house to see my ailing grandmother. My husband told me to return within half an hour. I was late only by 10 minutes. He then called me on my brother’s mobile number and uttered “talaq” thrice. I was completely shattered by his move.”

The woman, further, mentions how rude behaviour and exploitations she use to bear from her in-laws and that is because her family could not meet their demands of dowry at the time of their wedding. She further added, “They beat me at times when I am home. I also had an abortion because of their moves. My family is very poor which is why they were unable to give anything to my husband’s family.”

Now, seeking a solution to her issues, she has sought the government’s help as she wants justice for all the exploitations she is made to suffer since her marriage. She even said that if the government fails in rendering her with an apt justice, then there will be no way left for her other than committing suicide.

Speaking about this matter, the Area officer of Aliganj Ajay Bhadauriya said that an investigation into the matter will be conducted by them in order to take the necessary steps to resolve it.
