Woman arrested for 'killing' mother-in-law

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), March 28: The Golaghat Police arrested a woman on Tuesday for allegedly murdering her  mother-in-law in Golaghat.

According to sources, the woman has been indentified as Priya Thakuria. Sources said that on  March 22, Punyeswari Thakuria, mother-in-law of Priya Thakuria, resident of Pulibor under Golaghat police station,  was killed by someone with a sharp weapon. After this incident, Priya Thakuria, daughter-in-law of Punnyeswari Thakuria escaped from the house. The local people suspected that Priya Thakuria murdered her mother-in-law. The family members lodged an FIR in Golaghat police station against Priya Thakuria. But the investigation officer delayed the investigation process and was uble to arrest the accused, they alleged.

On Monday, a group of Mohila Samiti members went to the Superintendent of Police, Golaghat and demanded to arrest the culprit who murdered Punyeswari Thakuria. They had given 24 hours deadline to arrest the accused person. The Golaghat Police on Tuesday arrested Priya Thakuria on the charge of murdering her mother-in-law Punyeswari Thakuria.
