Woman dies after childbirth, case registered against doctor

JORHAT, April 10: Police today registered a case under section 304 of the Indian Pel Code(IPC) against a doctor of Teok First Referal Unit here after a complaint of medical negligence was lodged against the doctor.

The complaint alleged that  the death of a lady med ya Maheswari at the hospital on Wednesday was caused due to the negligence of the doctor.

According to the complaint gynecologist Dr Dipak Hazarika showed utter negligence during the treatment  of ya Maheswari who gave birth to a female baby in normal condition at the hospital. The complaint alleged that medical negligence of Dr Hazarika caused her death at the hospital as she was not provided required blood in a critical condition.

When few doctors of the hospital  were asked about their medical treatment provided to the deceased lady the medical professiols replied that urgent necessity of blood could not be mitigated during the critical condition of the patient.

Jorhat SP Amanjeet Kaur said  they have started an investigation into the case of alleged medical negligence.  "A case has been registered. Investigation is on," said  SP Kaur.  A magisterial inquiry has also been started to find out the causes of the death of the woman.
