Woman dies of electrocution

DEMOW, September 10: Due to alleged negligence of authorities of Attabari Tea Estate in Demow, on Wednesday afternoon at 7 No Line an electric wire fell and an aged women died after touching the wire. Due to this incident, tension prevailed in the entire tea garden area. The deceased has been identified as Santi Rani Das (75). Agitated public went to the spot where the Assistant Director, along with some employees, was present and they were blocked by an angry mob. According to sources, on Wednesday afternoon Santibala Das, wife of resh Das, had gone in search of a goat when she saw the wire fallen on the ground. She tried to put it aside and was electrocuted. Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti, Demow Regiol Committee leaders Joyjyoti Konwar and Sanjay Prasad Sah have lodged an FIR in Demow Police Station against the directors of the tea estate and demanded that a compensation of Rs 30,000 should be given to the victim’s family.
