Woman jumps into Dikhow river, rescued by swimmer

SIVASAGAR, May 10: A woman about 50 years old was rescued on Tuesday after she plunged into the Dikhow River from the Dikhow bridge in an attempt to end her life in Sivasagar. She is receiving treatment at Sivasagar Civil Hospital, Joysagar till filing of this report.

According to the sources, the woman tried to end her life due to family problems. She has been identified as Mira Hazarika, who resides at Melachakkar of Sivasagar town. She jumped into the Dikhow River from MI Bora bridge on Tuesday morning and was saved by a young man med Madhurjya Saikia who saw her plunging into the river.

Madhurjya Saikia, son of Rajnikant Saikia, hails from Joysagar area of Sivasagar. Madhurjya is a tiol-level swimmer and people appreciated the bravery of this young swimmer.
