Woman’s body recovered from train’s toilet

JORHAT, July 11: Close on the heels of the recovery of the body of a brilliant student of Assam Agricultural University from a toilet in the Golaghat-Farkating train on July 9, another incident took place in the 150909 Up Awadh Assam Express on Wednesday in the Mariani railway junction.

The body of a 37-year old woman was recovered from the toilet of the compartment for the disabled at Mariani junction. Her mouth was covered with a piece of cloth. After completion of departmental inquiry, the body was handed over to CRPF, Mariani and the train left the station at 3.31 am from Mariani. Till filing of this report investigation was on. Senior North East Frontier Railway officials from Maligaon, Tinsukia arrived at Mariani.

Meanwhile, the railway authority has decided to press sniffer dogs from various agencies like Assam Rifles, Assam Police, CRPF and Army into action in trains, said a senior official of NF Railway.
