More than 200 activists took part in the protest.  Addressing the gathering, the president of Mod Mukta Asom Davi Samittee, Prabin Das said, “The BJP-led Sarbanda Sonowal government is planning to kill youths by making liquor available in rural areas. Despite development of the people of rural areas, the government has taken the decision to issue permission for selling traditiolly-made liquor openly, which will harm the poor families. Increase in alcohol consumption will lead to increase in crimes like rape, theft and robbery.”
