Women panel holds awareness programme on gender based violence

SHILLONG, Nov 28: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women in collaboration with the Department of Social Work, Martin Luther Christian University, is observing the 16 days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence with a series of events throughout the Khasi/Jaintia Hills in an effort to create mass awareness about the different threats faced by people because of gender based mindset.

The first event in this awareness programme was the street play performed by the students of BSW third Semester at the Smit Market area today. The programme started with a short speech by the Vice Chairperson of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women, Gamchi Marak, where she spoke about the threats faced by women in society today.
