Women urged to play proactive role in society

HOWRAGHAT, March 24: A mass mothers’ meet was held recently at Howraghat Sankar Mandir premies in connection with the birth centery celebration of ga freedom-fighter and Padma Bhushan recipient Rani Ma Gaidinliu. The mass mother’s meet was organized by Howraghat Sankardev Bidya Niketan. Anima Sarma, secretary, Akhil Bharati Vidya Bharati attended as chief guest.

While addressing the thousands of mothers at the meet, Sarma spoke elaborately about the dedicated efforts of Gaidinliu in the struggle against religious conversions in the NE hills and anti-tiol activities of ga insurgency.

Sarma said that she was pained by what was happening to women all over the country and in the world. Speaking on women empowerment, she reiterated that time had come for women to play a proactive role to change the society as well as needed to take equal significant responsibilities in their individual life.

Addressing the thousands of women who participated from entire Howraghat area in the meet, Sarma urged women to come forward and to play significant role in the society.

Various traditiol dances were performed by the various communities in the meet.
