Work in offices affected

TINSUKIA, May 15: With almost all incumbent officials being engaged in NRC duties, normal public services were badly affected in some offices in Tinsukia. The District Transport Office (DTO) in one such office where public in large numbers from across the district visit the office for urgent work like accident, renewal of registration and driving licence, permit. As the DTO has been engaged in NRC duty and remains out of office for almost whole day without handing over charge to anybody, the aggrieved public, after waiting for several hours, have to return home frustrated. They reportedly even abuse lower staff of the office. A team of media persons, on receipt of complaints, met the Deputy Commissioner Oinam Saran Singh on Tuesday to sort out the problems faced by the public and requested him to assign an official in the absence of the DTO. The DC assured the media persons that he would look into the matter.
