Workshop on GST held

JORHAT, June 8: Central Silk Board, Lahdoigarh organized a workshop and training on GST on Thursday at Central Muga Eri Research and Training Institute, Lahdoigarh in association  with the Commissioner Central Excise and Service Tax, Dibrugarh. Roden Lepcha, Deputy Director of the CMERTI, welcomed all the visiting faculties from the office of the commissioner. Addressing the function, Om Prakash Tiwari, assistant commissioner, said.  “One tion-one tax is the benefit of GST in terms of simplification, unification and transparency. Around 14 types of taxes have been merged to GST. The most important aspect of GST is that every transaction will be online and transparent.”

BK Singh, Director of CMERTI,  said, “This is a very important workshop as GST will be effective from  July 1, 2017 and all the participants should take the opportunity to learn the various aspects of GST from the visiting faculties.”

Wazim Mustafa and Arvind Kumar, assistant commissioners, explained in details various aspects of GST through a power-point presentation. All the scientists, administrative officers and staff and its nested units along with 30 vendors participated in the programme.
