Workshop on identification of moth families held at Digboi College

DIGBOI, June 14: A workshop on ‘Lab and Live Basics on Lepidoptera and its Identification and Curation of micro and larger moth families occurring in Dehing Patkai Region’ was held here recently at Digboi College. The workshop was organized under the Wildlife Conservation Biology Course, (COC-UGC sponsored course) of the Department of Zoology, Digboi College and was conducted by the first batch students of the course for the session 2014-2015.

Altogether 54 students and teachers participated in the workshop which enriched their existing knowledge on the said module.

Teacher faculty from kachari College, Dr Kumud Ghose and Monimala Saikia from Assam Agriculture University also attended the workshop. Students from Margherita College, Digboi College, Tinsukia College, DHS Kanoi College, Salt Brook Academy, St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, and students from NERIST, Aruchal Pradesh attended this one-day certificate course workshop with great enthusiasm and zeal to learn.

The workshop  started with a welcome speech and delivering the purpose of the workshop by Rajib Rudra Tariang, the Coorditor of the COC, Wildlife Conservation Biology Course and Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, Digboi College.

There were four sessions in the workshop conducted by Subhasish Arandhara, a PG student of AVC College, Cheni, who is also an alumnus of Digboi College.
