Workshop on online reporting system

Shillong, April 26: A workshop on assessing the status of online reporting system in the North Eastern Region and to sensitize the officers of the Directorates of Economics and Statistics of the region on proposed National Data Warehouse of official Statistics & Data Dissemination Policy was organized in Shillong today.

The workshop was inaugurated by  Rajeev Lochan, DG, MoSPI. He mentioned that online data collection system will considerably reduce the time for data collection, data entry and processing and it will also help the States to address their data collection related problems.

On the issue of data warehouse, he highlighted that developing a data warehouse of the entire statistical system is a very ambitious project and MoSPI has taken this as a challenge. This will facilitate dissemination of important data and indicators prepared by Central and State Governments to the public at large for research purposes and other uses through a single window system and it will also help in checking duplication of efforts, he added.  CVD Diengdoh, joint secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Planning Department while addressing the workshop highlighted the importance of the quality of data for planning and development related schemes and projects. He termed the data as ‘future oil’.
