Workshop on self-employment held

BOKO, September 26: A day-long workshop on self-employment through eri silk was held in Chilarai Bhawan at Boko. The workshop was organized by Ajanjati Mahila Parishad. The socio-economic aspect of the workshop focussed specifically on following distinct areas of self-employment through eri rearing, spinning and weaving, working capital, technical education for their children, market link and 100 per cent women empowerment. Khiroda Deke, president of the Parishad, chaired the workshop. Chandan Keshab, tural dyer of eri silk and Mintu Patowary, social worker, attended it. Chandan Keshab, who also welcomed the gathering, said that with proper attention to the eri industry, eri silk could be exported as an organic product. He added that the workshop was aimed to create women empowerment, export market link and an organic production chain.
