World AIDS Day observed across State

MANGALDAI, Dec 1: World AIDS day was observed on Friday by the scouts and guides & cubs and bulbul family of Kendriya Vidyalaya Mangaldai. In this connection students and teachers of the school took out an awareness rally through the streets of the nearby areas. The participating students displayed banners and placards on prevention of AIDS and also shouted slogans for the rights of HIV infected patients. The rally was earlier flagged off by the Principal of the school M Suresh J. Babu.

In his speech he explained the very significance of observing the day and reiterated on creating awareness among the people regarding preventing HIV and AIDS. He also emphasized on offering necessary care and support to the patients both by family and the society to lead a respectful life just like a normal citizen of the country.

On the other hand the District Information and Public Relation Officer, Darrang has confirmed non receipt of any report from a government departments including the Health regarding observing the AIDS Day in public here today . It needs to be mentioned here that the Blood Bank of Mangaldai Civil Hospital hit the news headlines in June, 2012 for alleged several incidents of HIV infections by the transfusion of blood from the blood bank. In last previous years the district health department and the local unit of NHM in association with local non govt organizations used to observe the day with variety of public awareness programs.

TEZPUR: In a move to unite in the fight against HIV, the Sonitpur District Health Samiti, Tezpur in association with Indian Medical Association, Tezpur Chapter and District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Sonitpur along with the rest of the district in Assam, too observed World AIDS Day on Friday at the Tezpur Kaklata Civil Hospital.

 A rally on the occasion of Worlds Aids Day was organised by District Legal Services Authority, Sonitpur in association with the Joint Director of Health Servces, Tezpur. The rally was flagged off by  A.K. Borah, District and Sessions Judge, Sonitpur, Darrak Ullah, Addl. District and Sessions Judge, Sonitpur, Audri Bhattacharyya, Secretary, DLSA, Sonitpur. Other judicial officers of District Court, Tezpur also participated in the event. The rally was led by 5 Assam BN NCC Tezpur group and nurses of School of Nursing, Kaklata Civil Hospital, Tezpur, Assam.

JORHAT: Intertiol AIDS Day was observed at Jorhat with awareness against the spread of the deadly disease followed by demonstration, street play, procession which was performed by the medical students of Jorhat Medical College. A semir on the deadly disease was also held. Poster competition, slogan writing competition were organized by the students’ society, Dr. Ganesh Bora, the Superintendent of JMC said here on Friday.
