World Blood Donor Day observed by North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital Blood Bank

LAKHIMPUR: Along with the other parts of the globe, North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital (NLCH) Blood Bank observed the World Blood Donor Day on Friday in a befitting manner. This year the event was observed worldwide with a theme, ‘Blood donation and universal access to safe blood transfusion to achieve universal health coverage’. The theme taken for the campaign is ‘Safe blood for all’ to create awareness about the universal need for safe blood in the delivery of health care.

On this occasion, NLCH Blood Bank organized a blood donation camp at its office campus in the morning in collaboration with Lakhimpur Marwari Yuva Manch. Then the main awareness programme of the event was observed at Panigaon Om Prakash Dinodia College in association with Red Ribbon Club and the NSS unit of the college. The agenda of the programme began with an awareness rally with the participation of the college students, teachers and the members of Team Humanity, North Lakhimpur and Narayanpur, taken out covering the local area. The rally was inaugurated by the Joint Director of Lakhimpur District Health Services, Dr. Harpal Sing Suri and the college principal Dr. Suresh Kumar Dutta. It was followed by a donor motivational programme where Blood Bank in-charge Dr. Rohini Kumar Borah and counsellor Champak Baruah highlighted the technical and non-technical points of safe and secured blood donation to save life. A blood donation camp was also organized in the college. A total of thirty donors donated blood covering the both camps.

Biswanath Chariali: An awareness rally on the importance of safe and voluntary blood donation was taken out from the premises of the Blood Bank of Biswanath Chariali Civil Hospital on Friday with a motif of “Safe Blood for All”. The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath district Pabitra Ram Khaund. The rally was well attended by all voluntary blood donors, personnel of district administration, Students’ Union of Biswanath College, NCC wing of Biswanath College, ABVP, Biswanath Chariali, Biswanath Chariali units of AASU and AJYCP, District police administration, ASHA workers, local media and all the Health department officials and employees and general public of Biswanath Chariali. SDMO Dr Narayan Upadhyaya, Superintendant of Biswanath Chariali Civil Hospital Dr Jonali Gogoi, Blood Bank-in-charge Dr Gunjan Pathak, Partha Banerjee etc were also present on the occasion.

Bongaigaon: Bongaigaon District Administration on Friday observed World Blood Donor Day and a blood donation camp was organized by Blood Bank, Bongaigaon Civil Hospital at Chalantapara on the occasion. This year WHO event serves to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood and also to raise awareness of the need for regular blood donations to ensure that all individuals and communities have access to affordable and timely supplies of safe and quality-assured blood. One in every 100 person needs blood for survival and availability of pure and safe blood can save human lives. 120 voluntary participants today donated blood at the blood donation camp at Chalantapara Mini PHC. Each and every healthy person aging between 18 years to 65 years can donate blood in every three months, stated a press release.
