World Day against Child Labour observed

LAKHIMPUR, June 14: The World Day against Child Labour was observed on June 12 by Lakhimpur District Child Labour Project Samiti in association with Jyoti Sangam Samiti, All Assam Building Labour Union, two NGOs named Do:nyee: Po:Lo: and Shraddha at Narayanpur, Bordubi-Maluwal and Chauldhowa, three different places of Lakhimpur district.

At Narayanpur, in the auditorium of Jyoti Sangam Samiti, a plantation drive and an exhibition of the different items made by the technical faculty of the Child Labour Rehabilitation and Training Centres were organized as part of the agenda of the occasion. The awareness meeting, anchored by secretary Pradip Neog, was chaired by retired teacher Bhadreswar Hazarika while Jayanta Das, the Project Director of Child labour Project, Lakhimpur inaugurated the event. ADC Dr. Ashraful Amin was present as the chief guest.

On the other hand, the awareness meeting organized at the auditorium of Mrirong Akum at Bordubi Malual under Telahi Mouza was chaired by Rukmini Bhuyan Bhorali, the president of Shraddha. Lakhimpur SP Sudhakar Singh participated as chief guest in the meeting which was anchored by secretary of Shraddha, Prashanta Kumar Bhorali. Various competitions between children, an exhibition and plantation drive were also organized as part of the programme. Similarly, the awareness meeting organized at Chauldhowa was presided over by Kiran Ayengiya, the president of Do:nyee Po;Lo. The field officer of Shivam, the construction company, attended the programme as the chief guest. Plantation drive, exhibition and various competitions were also organized in the event.
