World Disabled Day observed

SHILLONG, Dec 3: State Social Welfare department Director HM Shangpliang today said that from now people with disability will be able to apply for disability certificate online. Shangpliang said this while addressing a programme held as a part of World Disabled Day celebration here. The programme on the theme, ‘Advocating Various Welfare Schemes/Programmes for Persons with Disabilities’ was held at Don Bosco Youth Centre. Speaking at the iugural function, Meghalaya Home Minister, Roshan Warjri said, “This day is indeed a meaningful one for the differently abled persons. The social stigma and prejudice towards the people with disabilities still exists in our society but by organizing awareness programmes this perception can be eradicated.”
