'World Environment Day' observed at Bongaigaon Refinery

Bongaigaon, June 7: Along with the world community, Bongaigaon Refinery observed the World Environment Day with enthusiastic participation of  employees, students including participation from local community.  

As a part of the observance, the refinery organized various programmes including different competitions like slogan writing, painting etc. among employees, CISF personnel, school students and town ladies for creating wide awareness and positive environmental action.

Senior executives planted tree saplings at administrative building premises on the occasion of World Environment Day. Ladies Associations of BGR township also took part in the observance by planting tree saplings in the township.

LW Khongwir, Executive Director in his speech said, "There should be a balanced tural cycle which co-exists between environment and lives of human beings, plants and animals."

He further emphasized that human beings must understand the importance of ecological balance and try their best to resist from mischievous activities which are detrimental to the environment and its creatures. Sharing his thoughts on this year's theme, Khongwir appealed all to put their individual and collective commitments for the sustaibility of the planet without causing any damage to the environment and the wildlife resources. He also shared the various strategies that Bongaigaon Refinery has been taking for continual improvement of environment.

Employees of the refinery took oath in the programme for the protection of ture, conservation of energy and tural resources, for maintaining cleanliness as well as to create awareness among the citizens for environment. Messages received from Chairman and Director (Refineries) were also read out. On the occasion, a special issue of 'Parivesh', the mouthpiece of Environment dept. was released.

Later, Mahadev Roy of BGR Employees Union and Noor Mohammad of BGR unit of IOOA also shared their thoughts in the programme.

Earlier, Ramen Sarma, DGM(HSE) welcomed the gathering and shared his thoughts on various aspects of this year's theme. This was stated in a press release.
