World Environment Day observed in NRL

GUWAHATI, June 7: NRL observed World Environment Day with week-long activities focusing on the theme, ‘Connecting to ture’, with the participation and involvement of  employees and a wide cross-section of people in the neighbourhood. In a run up to the day, several programs were organized in the neighbourhood which included environment awareness programs for ladies from nearby villages at Ouguri LP School and Rongmanch, Bisnhupur on May 27 and  June 2 respectively followed by tree plantation drive. Speech and drawing competitions on the theme were organized in two nearby schools on May 30 and June 1 where children participated enthusiastically.

Noted environmentalist Padmashree Jadav Payeng visited NRL on June 1 with a packed itinerary. He interacted with students of DPS Numaligarh and Prayash Vidymandir,  stressing on importance of flora and fau, environment protection and shared his experience of developing a green belt on his own. He has also planted saplings with the students in the school premises. Payeng was accorded  a warm welcome and felicitated by Director (Technical) NRL B.J. Phukan and other senior officers. He visited the green belt surrounding the refinery and appreciated efforts taken by NRL for environment monitoring and improvement. This was stated in a press release.
