Silchar: "In this world torn apart by turmoil, violence and divisiveness, the greatest need is of peace, unity and brotherhood. This can be attained and achieved by following the ideals of Biswa Nabi and all other great men of different religions. Their ideals will inspire human beings to regulate their conduct and behaviour,"

pointed out Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Sayeed Gobindapuri, All Jamiyatul Islamia Madani, East Gobindapur while addressing the annual Mehfil-e-Milad at the auditorium of Gurucharan College here on Saturday. Elaborating, he said for this proper education, inculcation of human values, spiritual thoughts and ideas are necessary.

"No religion teaches violence. Unfortunately, violence has engulfed the world which is attributed to deviation from the path of amity and brotherhood shown by Prophet Muhammad, the progenitor of Islam and the saviour of mankind," said Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Sayeed. He made it clear no country can prosper without peace and good education. In order to come out of the present crisis, it is the teachings and preachings of Biwa Nabi which have to be followed in letter and spirit. Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Sayeed expressed his confidence, "If our country can advance in education and technology, by the next century, America can be beaten to be on the zenith of success in the world." He saw great prospect in our country to dominate in every arena of achievement. It is important that every student sets up his own library and a functional laboratory for exploratory work. Without scientific and right education, no country in the world can stand in global competition. It is also important, as he said, learning and knowledge of English language is quite imperative. The great spiritual thinker and philosopher made the significant observation it is in India the sages and saints and the spiritual leaders have been born. It is their ideals which continue to guide us. He called upon the assembled students to be serious about their studies and follow the basic commandments of Islam to become good student and good citizen.

The right ambience for the occasion was set in with recitation from Holy Quran. Dr Moynul Haque, Prof. in-charge, Milad Mehfil, delivered the welcome address. It was followed by the expression of views on the occasion by Dr Shahedul Hoque Laskar, Professor, NIT, Dr Biswatosh Choudhury, HoD, Bengali, Assam University, and Professor Jyoti Lal Chowdhury, president, governing body of the College. All of them in identical tone laid stress on the observance of 5 duties as laid down in Islam which are confession of faith, prayer, alms giving, fasting during the month of Ramzan and Haj or pilgrimage to Mecca.

The message that has gone from the platform of Mehfil-e-Milad to students and youth is to inspire them to follow the basic divine rules of Quran which speak of love, amity, being kind and human, honesty, integrity and virtue.
