World Red Cross Day observed at Bilasipara

BILASIPARA, May 9: The 156th World Red Cross Day was observed at Bilasipara in the Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan on Friday under the aegis of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Bilasipara District branch.

In this connection the flag of the Red Cross Society was hoisted by Dr Kanu Lal Das, chairman, IRCS, Bilasipara district branch in the morning. Atonu Sarma, SDO (Civil), Bilasipara and the desigted president of the IRCS, Bilasipara district branch garlanded the portrait of Sir Jean Henry Dunt followed by lighting of lamp by Dr. Kanulal Das. Abdul Khaleque offered floral tribute on the portrait of Sir Jean Henry Dunt.

A semir was also held on the topic ‘Our principles in action’ with Dayal Paul as moderator. Dr Haricharan Das, librarian, Bilasipara College and Dr Padma Guha Agarwala, lecturer of Sapatgram College participated in the semir as resource persons. The SDO (Civil) also spoke on the topic. While addressing the meeting the SDO (Civil) said that Bilasipara subdivision was a backward area and called upon the people to come forward and cooperate with the civil administration for the all-round development of the subdivision.

The SDO(Civil), distributed a first-aid box and a dustbin to the Bilasipara Public Higher Secondary School. He also distributed few certificates to the life members of the organization. Renowned artiste of Goalparia folk song Abdul Karim Khan and his party sang a self composed song. Golam Rabbani offered vote of thanks. Sahidul Hoque Choudhury (Amin), secretary of IRCS, Bilasipara district branch anchored the whole programme.
