World Red Cross Day observed

SHILLONG, May 8: Along with the rest of the world, Meghalaya today joined hand to observe the World Red Cross Day which was organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya State Branch at a function held at the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides Headquarter, Shillong. The theme for the celebration was “Our Principles in Action”. World Red Cross Day is celebrated every year on May 8 to honor the Intertiol Red Cross Crescent Movement founder Henry Dunt, who was born on this day in 1828. AL Hek, Minister, Health and Family Welfare, who is also the Vice President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya branch, graced the occasion as chief guest in the presence of Dr R Wankhar, Director Health Services (MI), WR Marbaniang, IPS (Retd), Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya State Branch, A. Swer, General Secretary, Meghalaya State Branch, among others.
