Writers' Day observed

Imphal, July 17: harol Sahitya Premee Samiti , Imphal organized Writers’ Day, 2016 and Awards Presentation, 2015 on Sunday to felicitate the  awardees of Sahitya Akademi, tiol Film Critic and Manipur State Kala Akademi at Dr. Kamal Literary Complex, Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai, Imphal.

 The programme was held to honour the writers of the state who excelled in the field of literature. During the programme, Khullem Chandrashekhar Singh was honoured with Writer of the Year 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sahitya Akademi Awards were given to three persons : Prof. N. Khogendra for translation of novel “Hajar Churasir Ma” into Manipuri, Kshetri Rajen who is working as a Havildar in Manipur Rifles was awarded for his book of poems “Ahing Yengshillaba Mang” and a young author Chongtham Deepu was awarded for his book “Torbanduda”.

The Director of Information & Public Relations, Meghachandra Kongbam was also felicitated for being the Best Film Critic Awardee, 2015 and Longjam Joychandra in Theaterical category and  Aribam Kumar Sharma for translation were awarded Manipur State Kala Akademi Award.      The chief guest MLA N. ndakumar Singh congratulated the awardees and promised to help in developing the literature of the state. The programme was also attended by Commissioner of Arts & Culture Radhkumar Kangjam, Government of Manipur as Guest of Honour. This was stated in a press release.
