Xatradhikar of Batadrava shrine threatened

gaon, May 28: Xatradhikar of Batadrava shrine, Debanda Dev Goswami was again allegedly threatened by miscreants through SMS.

The miscreant introduced himself as Mustafa Kamal. He allegedly threatened the Xatradhikar not to lease Santijan and not try to drive out encroachers. The SMS was delivered from a mobile phone number (9401873930). Kamal also said that that he was representing the people of Batamari, Haidubi and Bhumuraguri.

This was disclosed by the secretary of the shrine committee, Brajen Kakati at a press meet on Thursday. The committee of this shrine has been fighting against illegal encroachment on the shrine’s property for several decades. Santijan, which is called as holy Akashiganga by believers, has been under illegal encroachment for a long time after several years the encroachers were filly driven out in 2014.

The Xatradhikar was also threatened by some Islamic fundamentalist groups three years back for his initiatives to drive out the encroachers. The Shrine committee on Thursday condemned the threat and asked the administration to take proper action.
