GOLAGHAT, December 2: Attending an award function organized by the Cultural Affairs Department in collaboration with the Golaghat district administration, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that ‘development of literature could strengthen society’. The award function was held in the District Library at Golaghat on Wednesday. In the programme the welcome speeches was delivered by Commissioner of Cultural Affairs, Assam Government, Pritam Saikia. State Cultural Affairs Minister Bismita Gogoi and PWD Minister Ajanta Neog delivered brief speeches on contribution towards the society by Prafulla Chandra Bora and Dr Numal Chandra Bora. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi honoured Dr. Numal Chandra Bora with the Xoti Sadhani Award and the Syed Abdul Malik Award was given to Prafulla Chandra Bora. It was received by his wife Renu Bora. Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi, Parliamentary Secretary Arati Kachari Hazarika, Arun Phukan, Monilal Gowala, chairman of Chutia Jati Development Council, Jiten Saikia, Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Anowarul Haque, Director of Cultural Affairs Bibekanda Choudhary took part in the programme.
