Young donors felicitated on World Blood Donors’ Day

MANGALDAI, June 15: The blood bank authority of Mangaldai Civil Hospital, in a unique move to involve more and more youths in the movement of voluntary blood dotion, observed the World Blood Donors’ Day at Mangaldai College premises in collaboration with the NCC wing of the college on Tuesday.

The day-long celebration featured an awareness rally in the morning which moved from the college campus to Bhebarghat Chariali with the participation of NCC cadets, students, trainees of GNM training institute, members of non-government organizations, staff and officials of the health department followed by a public meeting and felicitation programme in the Science Gallery.

Synchronizing with the celebration, a voluntary blood dotion camp was also organized where about 30 donors comprising students, NCC cadets, NGO members and GNM trainees voluntarily doted blood. Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das iugurated the blood dotion camp while Additiol Deputy Commissioner Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati flagged off the rally. Principal of Mangaldai College, Dr Khagedra Kr th, in-charge Joint Director of Health Services, Darrang, Dr Ramesh Ch Goswami, Subdivisiol Medical and Health Officer of Mangaldai, Dr Nirmal Ch Beriya and other senior health officials also attended the day-long programme. Prior to the blood dotion camp, the organizers felicitated the office bearers of various NGOs associated with voluntary and safe blood dotion campaign including Crystal Vision, Rising Hands, Mangaldai Nirman Shramik Sanstha, NERIM and IRADO as well as individual blood donors like Associate NCC Officer Captain Harimon Deka and others as a mark of public recognition and encouragement to their ideal social commitment   .

The felicitation function also witnessed sharing of persol experiences by a number of donors including Sekhar Mazumdar, Pappu Kabeer, Runjun Devi and Mayukh Goswami and in their speech they clearly said that the act of blood dotion to a needy person offers everyone a divine pleasure and the best bond of relationship in the world.

In the beginning of the function Medical Officer and in-charge of Mangaldai Blood Bank, Dr Daud Ali explained the significance of celebrating the day while prominent young singer master Palash and GNM trainee Boho Barooa added more colour to the function with performance of immortal songs of Dr Bhupen Hazarika .
