Youth beaten up severely in Ledu for posting 'Pakistan Zindabad' on Facebook

Guwahati: One Higher Secondary Student was severely beaten up by the public on Monday for allegedly posting 'Pakistan Zindabad' on his Facebook profile.

The youth identified as Khairul Alam is a student of Ledu College.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, an officer in charge, Ledu Police Station, Amarjyoti Bailung said, "We have arrested the youth. The offended public had beaten up the youth, however, we rescued him. During our interrogation, he stated that he was about to write 'Pakistan Murdabad', but mistakenly wrote 'Pakistan Zindabad'. The matter is quite strange, thus, we are looking into it."

Officer in charge, Amarjyoti Bailung also stated that the youth had failed in his HS examinations earlier and will be appearing for finals this year.

The police official also confirmed that the youth is not minor by age.

The incident had intensified the entire region since the wee hours today and bought repercussions in the area.

Further, the police investigation is on.

Meanwhile, local people in the region had urged the people to remain united and raise their voice against the people who are allegedly trying to polarise the region with hatred and provocative statements through social media viral posts.

They also appealed the masses to remain cautious while posting and commenting on anything on social media platforms.
