A CORRESPONDENT

LAKHIMPUR, July 6: The dilapidated conditions of the KB Road, one of the busiest roads in Lakhimpur district, has made people to suffer a lot. Yet the district administration, the department concerned as well as the State government have paid no attention towards repair of the road despite the sufferings of common people and their demands.

Similarly, the construction of the unplugged portion of the Ranganadi right embankment at Amtola-Joinpur which was breached last year on July 11 by the massive flood caused by Ranganadi due to irresponsible release of the excess water by NEEPCO from the dam of Ranganadi Hydro Electric Plant, could not be finished last year.

On the other hand, the people of greater Telahi-Kamalaboria area in the southern part of the district are deprived of getting regular medical services as doctor is not available at Panigaon Additional Hospital for 24 hours. Regarding these issues, the Anti Corruption Youth, Assam(ACYA), in association with the public, administered strong protest against the district administration and the State government by blocking the busy KB Road of the district at Bapokhat on Thursday. In the programme, which was initiated under the aegis of Telahi-Kamalaboria Regional unit, in association with Lakhimpur district body of the organization, the activists created a unique environment by presenting nam-kirtan with the blended notes of khol, nagara, bortal etc. Participating in the programme, Dharma Kanta Gogoi, the State president of the organization slammed the State government for allegedly failing to accelerate developmental activities and in resolving the burning problems of Lakhimpur district. He demanded immediate actions on the part of authorities concerned to mitigate the issues raised.
