Youth Congress workers vandalize Tinsukia Congress Bhavan

TINSUKIA: Aggrieved over the selection of candidates for panchayat election, the Youth Congress workers vandalized the Tinsukia Congress Bhavan, including the official room, on Wednesday morning, the second day of filing the nomination papers. After throwing office furniture outside, they locked the Bhavan.

It is alleged that the district president Jayanta Kalita unilaterally prepared a list without taking members of Block Congress, Mahila Congress and Youth Congress into confidence. The activists opined that the district president ought to have discussed with them before finalizing the list for five constituencies of Tinsukia district and part of Chabua constituency. The Youth Congress activists further alleged that there were also some sorts of monetary transactions while awarding tickets. Though Kalita could not be contacted for his views, he, however, issued a press release furnishing a list of 20 ZPMs against 20 ZPCs of the district.
