Youth drowns in Aila River at Gaurisagar

GAURISAGAR, June 9 : Anta Das (22), son of Nirmal Das of Ailamukh village  on the outskirts of Gaurisagar, drowned in Aila River near his village  on Wednesday morning. According to reports, Anta was going on his bicycle to meet his father who was working in the farm. Suddenly he skidded off from the bicycle and fell into the Aila River. Having heard a sound, Anta’s father rushed and  jumped into the river. He recovered the bicycle from the river and confirmed that it was his son’s bicycle. When the news spread, the local people searched for Anta’s body in the river. Family members lodged an FIR at Joysagar police outpost immediately. The police and NDRF searched till Wednesday along with the local people but failed to recover the body. Family members also informed that he was also suffering from epilepsy. Besides, the water flow of the river might have taken the body to the downstream of the river. But surprisingly, on Thursday morning local people saw his body floating on the river and informed the police. Later police personnel of Joysagar outpost recovered the body and sent it to Sibsagar Civil Hospital for post mortem. Anta is survived by his parents and two brothers and a host of relatives.
