Youth held for murder attempt in Joysagar

Joysagar: Biki Das (21) of Bhatiapara Ailamukh village of Joysagar was nabbed by the Gaurisagar Police of Sivasagar on Sunday for attempting to murder a minor girl student of Gaurisagar IIHS School on Saturday evening. As per information, the accused had allegedly proposed to the girl but she refused. Biki then threw kerosene oil on the girl and set her ablaze near the school on Saturday evening. But some villagers saved the girl and quickly shifted her to Joysagar Civil Hospital. The Gaurisagar Police registered a case following the complaint lodged by the parents of the girl.

Meanwhile, in Sonari town another girl student of Class IX of Sonari Hindi HS School died under mysterious circumstances. The body of the girl was recovered by her parents on Sunday, hanging from the ceiling of a room in their house. Sonari Police have started investigation.

On the other hand, fire mishap took place on Sunday in Sunbocha gaon of Upper Nazira in Sivasagar district. A girl of Class IX of Nazira HS School received serious injuries and she was admitted in Nazira subdivisional hospital by her parents. The victim received about 65 per cent burn injury. The cause of the mishap is under investigation.
