Youths to play vital role in tion building'

SILCHAR, March 30: District Youth Convention on “role of youth in tion building activities” organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Cachar, in coordition with Arjya Sanskriti Bhodonee Samity was held in the conference hall of Zila Parishad on Sunday. Graced by distinguished persolities, Niranjan Roy, Registrar, Assam University, A R Sheikh, ADC, Madhumita Choudhury, ADC, Dr. Subhabrata Dutta, Head, Department of Social Work, Assam University, and Haran Dey, chairman, Prakriti News. The guest speakers Jaya th, principal, South Point School, and Sumit Srivastava, Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, also spoke on the occasion. At the outset, Saswati Deb, District Youth Coorditor, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Cachar, gave welcome address. The entire programme was conducted ably by Gautom Bhattacharjee.

The NDA Government has formulated tiol young leaders programme in order to develop leadership qualities among youths to eble them to realize their full potential and in the process to contribute to the tion building process. This scheme has five components which include youth parliament, development programme, tiol young leaders awards, tiol youth advisory council and tiol youth development fund.

Speakers while speaking about the scheme pointed out in more or less identical manner that this has been a novel initiative of the new government in Delhi. It is expected that it will create a productive work force that can make a sustaible contribution to India’s economic development as well as develop a strong and healthy generation equipped to take on future challenges. Besides, the scheme is also designed to instill social values and promote community service to build tiol ownership.

It is also to facilitate participation and civic engagement at levels of governce and to support youth at risk and create equitable opportunity for disadvantaged and margilized youth. The priority areas of the scheme is on education, employment and skill development as well as entrepreneurship. It also emphasizes health and healthy life style, sports, promotion of social values, community and youth engagement. The youths are to be motivated for participation in politics and governce, inclusion and social justice. The scheme has been introduced with the vision to “empower youth, empower tion”.
