SADIYA: Project Sindhu Khetra, an initiative of the Sadiya subdivisional administration, in association with 20 Madras Regiment of Indian Army and 68 Battalion of CRPF, is aimed at preparing the local youths to face the challenges of competitive exams required for entry into the Armed forces, both military and paramilitary and police, both at regional as well as pan India level.

The project aims at creating awareness and developing a sense of responsibility among today’s youth and encouraging them to join the defence forces and serve the nation. In the past few years, drug abuse and other such cases of banned substances has been on the rise, especially among the youths in the vicinity of the Chapakhowa town. So, in order to motivate such youths and to bring them to the mainstream, the project aims at inducing physical strength with such training programmes, thereby making them mentally tougher to refrain themselves and others from drug abuse.

Total 225 interested youths submitted forms at the special facilitation centre set up at SDO (C) office, Sadiya. A screening was done by officers of Indian Army and CRPF among the interested participants and in the first phase, 100 participants were selected and they are undergoing training at Veer Lachit Stadium, Sadiya. A database covering information about the participants will be created and kept with the Project Sindhu Khetra team.
