ZUF ultras, army exchange fire

IMPHAL  March 20: There was a long running gun battle between the securty forces and the insurgents of the Zeliangrong United Front in Tamenglong district of Manipur yesterday. However initial reports said that there was no casualty on both sides. The encounter took place near Khoupum near Nungba in the district yesterday morning. The Assam Rifles personnel had conducted combing operations in the nearby mountains on receipt of information that there were some movements of the armed insurgents there. It was reported that the insurgents had opened fire on the troops. Additiol personnel have rushed there for carrying out intensive combing operations.
