14 persons booked for illegally damaging forest resources of Pedung village

Itanagar: At least 14 persons were booked for illegally damaging forest resources and occupying 62 acres of notified area of Pedung village (New Bomdila) on Saturday by town magistrate Kesang Wangda. Based on a complaint regarding illegal deforestation and occupation of the notified area, Wangda along with OC Bomdila, Range Forest Officer, District Land Record and Settlement Officer (DLR&SO), village head and villagers of Pedung village with IRBN and police personnel succeeded in confiscating the jungle cutting and fencing materials and booking people found on the spot.

Investigations are on for unearthing the truth and the mastermind who emboldened the people for occupying the notified area, an official communiqué informed.

A few more dozen people are expected to be booked shortly, the communiqué added.
