ITANAGAR: The State Finance, Planning & Investment department in an order has announced that an amount of Rs. 26.84 crore has been approved to release only to the department of Higher & Technical education for the payment of stipend and books grants for the academic session of 2020-21.

The government has instructed the education department to utilize the amount after verifying the actual requirement and following the prescribed guidelines.

It also added that, the department shall furnish details of expenditure made against the fund allotted to Planning & Investment division for appraisal of the higher authority.

In the year 2020, the state government had released an amount of Rs. 53.26 crore as stipend and scholarship for a total of 38,594 students, in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic.

Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs KirenRijiju today tweeted that, "On the direction of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister PemaKhandu, an amount of Rs 2685.34 lakh is released for the purpose of stipend & scholarship of the students."

Chief Minister PemaKhandu also through its twitter handle informed that the stipend of college & university students will be disbursed immediately.

He further instructed the department to release the post matric scholarship of Tribal ministry proportionately to all the eligible students as per funds released by ministry so far including state share,

Release stipend of DIET students as per norms, he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the state Finance secretary (In-charge) Dr. P Parthiban confirming the reports said that the stipends of students will be cleared from the finance department within this week.

Parthiban said that the department had received the file for the stipend and had been cleared last Monday. The sanction will be done within a couple of days.

Accordingly the concerned department can draw the amount and can be disbursed to the eligible students, he added.

However, Parthiban said that he has no idea about the exact time for the disbursement of Scholarship of the post matric students. He said that the education department is the competent authority to provide details on it.

The order was issued on April 21 this year.
