3 bodies to call chakka bandh

ITANAGAR, June 18: The All Arunachal Registered Contractors’ Association (ARCA), Arunachal Citizens’ Rights Organization (ACRO) and the All Arunachal Pradesh Youth Organization (AAPYO) in a joint meeting decided to call chakka bandh at Potin and Hollongi in days to come. The date of the bandh has not been decided as yet.

The three organizations had on May 17 submitted a memorandum to the Chief Engineer, Highway for the clearance of the road blockade point on Hollongi and Potin Road.

ARCA president Biri Joy, speaking to reporters, said that according to the memorandum submitted to the Chief Engineer a meeting was to be called to discuss the issue. But there is no action executed by the department concerned as yet.”So we’ve decided to call a chakka bandh the date of which will be disclosed soon,” he added.

AAPYO president Deepak Charu said that it is well known to the Highway Department that during monsoon roads get blocked hampering communication for the district by-passing the Potin TAH as well as Hollongi TAH. Due to the recent blockade people are suffering as they cannot reach the capital city on time for various reasons. “We seek support from the people of the entire district by-passing the Holongi and Potin TAH to the chakka bandh,” he said.
