48 injured as bridge collapses in Arunachal

ITANAGAR: At least 48 people sustained minor injuries and few are stated to be in critical condition after a semi-metallic hanging bridge turned upside down on Saturday afternoon at Namorah under Dissing Paso circle, Pakke kessang district.

Police attributed the mishap to overloading. No casualties were reported till filing of this report.

According to police sources, the bridge turned upside down due to overflooding of people who come from Assam for picnics. An eyewitness said a picnic party reportedly coming from Biswanath Chariali, Assam, were taking selfies on the bridge when the mishap occurred.

When contacted, Pakke Kessang, SP, Jimmy Cheram said, “The injured have been shifted to Biswanath Charali Civil Hospital and other local nursing homes,”.
