ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh recorded another highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with 515 more people testing positive for the infection, pushing the virus tally in the northeastern State to 45,703. Earlier, on July 13, the frontier state reported 566 cases in a single day. The toll tally in the State increased to 213 with one more person succumbing to the infection on Saturday. The 48-year-old man from Changlang died at a hospital in Assam's Dibrugarh district due to Covid-Pneumonia with cardio-pulmonary failure, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Sunday.

The Capital Complex Region registered the highest number of fresh cases at 139, followed by Lohit (85), East Siang (39), West Siang (34), Papumpare (30), West Kameng (28), Lower Subansiri (25), Lower Dibang Valley (18), Leparada (17) and Anjaw and Namsai with 14 each cases.

A total of 10 new cases were also reported from Changlang, nine from Kamle, eight each from Longding and East Kameng, seven each from Upper Subansiri and Tirap, six from Tawang, four each from Lower Siang, Pakke Kessang and Upper Siang, three from Siang and one each from Kurung Kumey and Shi-Yomi district respectively.

Among the fresh cases, 483 were detected through RATs (Rapid Antigen Tests), 17 through RT-PCR and 15 by the TrueNat method, said the SSO adding that 218 people are symptomatic.

The active cases in the State now stand at 4,465. Meanwhile, as many as 406 patients were cured of the disease on Saturday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 41,025.

The recovery rate among the Coronavirus patients in the State stands at 89.76 per cent while the active percentage stands at 9.77 and the positivity rate at 7.48 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 1,151, followed by Lohit (354), Papumpare (323), Lower Subansiri (317), West Kameng (274) and East Siang at 259 cases.

Altogether, 8,98,083 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 6,878 on Saturday, added Jampa.

Meanwhile, SSO (State Immunisation Officer) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 8,22,219 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.

Meanwhile, the State government has imposed additional containment measures in nine districts from Sunday, including extension of curfew hours.

The nine districts have recorded Coronavirus positivity rate of more than 10 per cent in the past week.

Among the nine districts, Kurung Kumey recorded a Coronavirus positivity rate of 21.1 per cent in the past week, followed by the Capital Complex Region (15.9), Tawang and Kamle with 13.1 per cent, Lohit (12.9), Siang (12.2), Longding (11.9), Kra Daadi (10.7) and Dibang Valley with ten per cent respectively.

Accordingly, curfew timing in the nine districts has been extended from 3 pm to 5 am regularly.
