55th Walong Day celebrated in Anjaw district

Itanagar: The 55th Walong Day was commemorated on Friday at Walong in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh in a solemn ceremony by a unit of Dao Division honouring the valiant brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during 1962 war.

The event commenced with wreath laying at “Hut of Remembrance” by senior Army officers and civil dignitaries, a defence communiqué informed here on

Saturday.

A movie on “Battle of Walong” was also screened to mark the event.

The locals enthusiastically participated and presented a cultural programme. The event was attended by senior army officers and representatives from local civil administration.

Around 300 locals and more than 250 defence personnel paid their respect to the fallen soldiers.

The locals expressed their gratitude for the saviours of Arunachal and extended the bonhomie towards Army, the communiqué added. EOM
