Itanagar, May 18: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) is going to organize a sit-in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 here on May 21 next as decided by the North East Students’ Organisation (NESO).

The sit-in demonstration would be the second phase of NESO agitation against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

The NESO along with its constituent organizations had earlier on May 12 staged a massive protest on the banks of Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati, demanding scrapping of the controversial bill. AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai, who had been at Shillong for meeting the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, also joined the protest rally organized by NESO at Guwahati. Dai had also briefed Chief Minister Pema Khandu recently about the Union’s stand on the bill and appealed him to take a clear stand for the interest of the people of the state.

Meanwhile, the AAPSU has called upon cross section of greater Arunachal society to come out open and register their protest against the “anti indigenous” and “anti Northeast” bill.
