ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Unemployed Workers' Union (AAPUWU), in a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has made a series of demands related to unemployed youths and matters concerning the State.

Addressing the media at the Press Club here on Tuesday, AAPUWU president Tagru Mangming said that the number of registered unemployed youths in the employment exchange was more than 57,000 in the year 2018, which had increased over the years. Demanding the State Government to create more job opportunities to engage the unemployed youths, Mangming said that the State Government should immediately create 'Arunachal Regiment' to minimize the unemployment issues.

Likewise, the State Government should also think about ways to enagage youths in any kind of work in order to divert them from indulging in drugs, gambling and other anti-social activities. He also said that the Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITW) should be regularized. Their demands should be heard and accordingly acted upon by the department concerned, he added.

Concerned over the numerous cases from the State pending under the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Mangming said that the State Government should come up with a CBI branch office at Itanagar.

"There are many cases registered under CBI from Arunachal Pradesh and yet there is no outcome of any cases. Moreover, corruption, murders and other criminal activities have been increasing in the past few years," he said, adding that a CBI branch office at the State capital would secure the interest of people. The union has also demanded 80:20 ratio in recruitment process of youths from the State in private jobs, construction of Indo-China trade route for trade and commerce, to terminate government or non- government staff appointed through political approach, limitation of immigration to minimum 20 per cent and 2 per cent increase in salary of Traffic Police.
