ITANAGAR: The central body of the All Arunachal Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers Association (CB-AASSATA) on Friday appealed to the state government to regularize the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA-ISSE) contractual teachers.

Addressing the media at the press club, CB-AASSATA President Techi Bollo said that the state government in 2018 regularized 400 contractual teachers. And since then, there has been a gap, and the system of regularization on a yearly basis has never been executed. He said around 6240 contractual teachers in the state are yet to be regularized. The concern has been repeatedly placed before the state government, but there has been no response to the matter. Therefore, the association appealed to immediately implement the yearly regularization of 400 contractual teachers under SSA.

"The present BJP government has openly promised in the 2019 election manifesto that contractual teachers under SSA will be regularized in a phased manner. Hence, we want the state government to come up with a concrete policy on the timely regularization of teachers," he said. On the sidelines, he also appealed to the Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) and other political organizations to not politicize the recent reports of illegal appointments of teachers in Longding district.

He said that since the matter has been taken up by the Education Minister himself, there is no need to politicise the matter. Moreover, a three-member committee has already been set up to find out the truth and accordingly punish the culprits within the law. Rather than making the issue political, the association suggested political parties, student organizations, and CBOs come forward to give fruitful input to curb such illegal appointments in the state.
