Silchar, May 23: A 50 year old man Nilokonto Teli died on the spot after his motorcycle, on which his son, Karan Sahu (20) was also seated, was hit by a speeding cruiser while they were going towards Narayanpur tea garden from Silchar recently. The accident took place near DLF Uzan Tarapur at around 9 in the night. While the father died on the spot, Karan received severe injuries. His both hands were broken and he was rushed to Algapur hospital which referred him to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The driver of the vehicle has been absconding. Nilokonto Teli’s body was also sent to SMCH for an autopsy. The motorcycle was totally damaged. The next day, people blocked the road from 9 am to 12 pm and demanded immediate monetary assistance to the Teli family.

Nilokonto Teli was a grade IV employee of Narayanpur tea garden. They also demanded that his son should get the same job on compassionate ground and his wife should start getting pension immediately. Upon receiving the information, ADC Cachar and in-charge SDO (Civil) J R Lalsim along with magistrate Yahidul Islam, ACS, MLA Rajdeep Goala, SDPO Gaurav Kumar Aggarwal, office in-charge Lakhipur PS Inspector Anwar Hussain Choudhury, Banskandi PS in-charge S Uddin and Hareshwar Dubey rushed to the spot. MLA Rajdeep Goala helped the family financially. The people were assured that all the demands would be fulfilled as early as possible. Upon hearing the words of assurance, the people withdrew the road blockade.
