ITANAGAR: The Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) has said that news reports, wherein Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) and People's Liberation Army (PLA) have claimed their hand in the shooting down of Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) were 'fake'.

Addressing media persons at the press club here on Thursday, ABK spokesperson Vijay Taram said that the claims by these insurgent groups were totally baseless and without any fact. The ABK strongly condemned such misleading information on the incident and also appealed to state media fraternity not to encourage such reports without any research prior.

He said that the Adi community would never tolerate such anti-national activity in the state and Adi settled districts in particular. Moreover, there were no such insurgent groups nor were there any Manipuri or Naga people settled in the Upper Siang district. "We stand firm with our Indian Army guarding our borders since many decades. ABK is displeased over such callous, insensitive, and fake claims by the insurgent groups. Also, we won't tolerate any anti-national activities in our territories," he said.

He said the ABK extended deepest condolences to the families of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives on duty. The ALH crashed at Sigging near Tuting of Upper Siang district on October 21. "ABK believes by this press clarification, people are clear about the misgivings that have cropped up due to the cheap publicity and claims made by MNPF and PLA. Moreover, the Indian Army has also clarified the reports a day before through newspapers on the matter," he added.
